Save your Energy

With the recent hikes in energy prices, domestic energy bills are a real cause for concern for many.

Our team of volunteers will be able talk over your own situation, and what energy saving steps might be practical for you and the particular property you live in. They offer:

  • A friendly chat about how you can save energy at home
  • Tips on how to cut your fuel bills
  • Suggestions on where to start with draught-proofing, insulation, solar energy, heat pumps and more
  • Signposts to where to go for more information
  • Information on the current grants which are available

There’s two ways to access the Helpdesk:

  • IN PERSON:  Book a face-to-face session at the Repair Café, which happens at Beeding Village Hall from 2.00-4.00pm on the second Saturday of the month.
  • VIA PHONE or ZOOM:  Sign up for a phone or zoom conversation at a time that suits you.

You can access either service using the links above.

Please note they’ll be offering information and suggestions rather than professional advice. Also, the service is entirely free, though you are always welcome to drop a small donation in Repair Café bucket when you visit.

We’ve helped over 75 people from Steyning, Bramber & Beeding with home energy savings so far!

Please bear in mind:

Greening Steyning is a volunteer organisation and we provide this information in good faith. Most of the Homes & Energy team that runs the Home Energy Helpdesk have prior knowledge of upgrading/retrofitting their own homes to help save energy, but please note we are enthusiastic amateurs rather than qualified and fully accredited professionals.

Before proceeding with any major works you need to obtain professional advice from suitably qualified person(s).

Whenever seeking advice you need to make your own personal enquires as to the qualifications, financial status, competence of the provider and if the technology is the most appropriate for your own personal circumstances.

We advise you to obtain at least three “like for like” quotations from different providers before proceeding with any major works.

If you’re interested in home energy savings and would like to get involved in the Homes and Energy Action Group, either as an active member or an occasional helper, we’d love to hear from you.   The group meets every month or so to talk about project ideas, and how we can reach out and help local people get started on home energy improvements.   Just fill in the volunteer sign up form and we’ll be in touch: https://bit.ly/greeningvolunteer
