Join us for Green Drinks
This is our regular monthly get together to talk about matters green. We have had some brilliant and inspiring speakers over the last few years. You can see a run down on the ‘Previous Events’ section of the Events page, and link through to quite a few of the speakers’ presentations.
In the past we’ve met up at the Football or Cricket Club over a pint and a packet of crisps. Because of lockdown restrictions, we’ve decided to move Green Drinks online for the time being. We’ll be meeting up via Zoom and trying to recreate the same friendly, informal atmosphere, with plenty of time for questions and answers and audience interaction. It BYOB!
The next online Green Drinks will be on Tuesday 27th October. We’ve organised a special online screening of the uplifting film ‘2040’.
2040 is an upbeat and positive film about climate change with practical suggestions on how we can get on top of the crisis. In it, award-winning director Damon Gameau embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we embrace the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.
Structured as a letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a convincing vision of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.
“Accessible, informative and optimistic look at solutions to the climate crisis…2040 is a rare climate documentary with an optimistic message” (New York Times)
Greening Steyning has arranged with the UK distributors, Together Films, to host an online screening. There are only 100 tickets available.
You can book a virtual seat for the screening via Eventbrite using this link: https://bit.ly/2040filmsteyning
We are asking for donations to cover the costs of putting on the film screening – a figure of £3 per person is suggested. But if you’d like to chip in a bit more to help support the 2030 Project that would be great! We don’t have any external sources of funding at the moment, so our cash tin is getting a bit empty!
Post Screening Chat
The film lasts an hour and a half; it will be followed by a ‘Virtual Chat’ from 9pm to 9.30pm on Zoom where you can share your thoughts on the film with others who attended.
If you would like to take part in the chat too you will need to register separately, using this link: https://bit.ly/2040chatsteyning. Zoom details will be sent nearer the time to those who have registered.
We’ll send you the Zoom login details once you’re signed up.
