Eco Open Houses

A chance to see some green improvements up close

Have you been thinking of making some eco improvements on your home but aren’t sure about the practicalities?  How much hassle is involved, and will they really save money?

Our Eco Open House Day could help answer these questions.  Six houses, plus the Fire Station in Steyning will be opening their doors to show off the the eco-steps they’ve taken to make their homes cosier, cut their energy bills, and trim their carbon footprint.

A wide range of properties will be on display, from this old Victorian pub to a former council house and a brand new home.  You’ll be able to see a range of eco-measures up close, including:

  • Solar PV
  • Battery storage
  • Heat pumps
  • Insulation improvements of all kinds
  • Draught proofing
  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Wildlife-friendly gardens
  • Electric vehicles

You’ll be able to speak to the homeowners and find out what prompted them to make these changes, what challenges they faced, and how it’s worked out. You can also read more about each property by clicking the links below.

The Eco Open Houses Day is on Saturday 31st August.

Homes are open from 11am to 5pm.

You can pick up a brochure with a map and details of all six houses from the Library, Steyning Book Shop, and most of the estate agents and coffee shops in town – just look for an Eco Open Houses poster in the window.  Or you can download a pdf copy here.
