27 April – Countdown to 2030

2030 Countdown 9 Years Banner

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. (Margaret Mead)

2021 is the most important year for the environment. As Sir David Attenborough, Greta Thunberg and others have made all too clear, this year needs to be a turning point if we are to get on top of the looming climate and ecological crisis.

In November, Glasgow is hosting the critical COP 26 conference, the biggest summit ever held in the UK, where the world leaders are expected to strengthen their commitments to reducing carbon emissions.

We have just 9 years to make a difference if we are to turn things round by 2030. The countdown starts now.

We need to take decisive action, and we need to do it together – harnessing the ideas and enthusiasm of our whole community.

During the 2030 Countdown event, you will hear a series of inspiring short talks from different perspectives, sharing a vision for where we want and need to be by 2030, and laying our a roadmap for how we’ll get there.

Join us and discover how you can play your part in protecting our precious local environment, and making our community a greener, happier and healthier place to live.

It will be a lively and interactive evening with polls, questions for the audience, Q & A sessions and active chat.

Speakers include:

* Isabella Tree – from the Knepp Estate, and pioneer of the Rewilding movement

* Andrew Griffith MP – Arundel and South Down MP

* Paul Hannam & Geoff Barnard – Co-chairs, Greening Steyning

* Greening Steyning Action Group Coordinators – leading our efforts on transport, homes and energy, biodiversity and the green consumer agenda.

* Community representatives – from local schools, businesses and other stakeholder groups.
